Annie Farnsworth, MA

Annie is a first-year Psychology Master’s student. Her research interests broadly fall into three connected categories: (1) verbal and linguistic signatures of traumatic stress, (2) social support and dyadic synchrony, and (3) collaborative work focused on establishing and supporting best practices for trauma-informed, community-based interventions.

Before coming to The New School, Annie worked as a Research Coordinator at NYU Langone on a team using machine learning techniques to examine the predictive capacity of digital biomarkers derived from video and audio data to prognosticate post-traumatic stress symptoms following trauma exposure. Annie also has experience as an advocate working with young people who have experienced school push-out or court contact and is currently a crisis hotline volunteer with the NYC Anti-Violence Project. She hopes to pursue a PhD in Clinical Psychology.

Outside of the Lab:

When not in the lab, Annie can be found biking around Prospect Park or trying to maintain diplomatic relations between her two cats.
